Realistic Body Painting

TPE is a very soft and elastic material, which by itself can't hold deep texture the way silicone can. So a degree of visual realism can only be achieved through paintwork. For a TPE doll, paintwork plays an even bigger role than for a silicone one, it's the main tool for detailing the model.

How realistic sex dolls are painted

The paint is applied in layers, from base to top coat. The more layers, the more realistic the doll. As soon as a doll is cast, she's a plain, uniform "blank" with no detail whatsoever. The paintwork is what gives her shading, detail, tones and all the other small touches without which a sex doll won't be perceived the way it should be.

TPE can't hold as many layers of paint as silicone. So even with ultra-realistic painting, you can't achieve the same level of visual realism as a silicone doll. This is a genuine material limitation worth understanding before you buy.

In standard configuration, most brands apply several base layers of paint to their TPE dolls. These add shading where needed, and, less often, a light pigment.

How it works

At the final production stages, a team of artists applies several additional layers of paint. These improve the doll's overall realism. Each brand's process differs, but it all comes down to more shaded areas and increased pigmentation.

The paintwork is applied exclusively to the doll's body. The model's face is the same, with or without this option.

We think this option is essential to add when buying a realistic TPE sex doll. It significantly increases the doll's realism.

Paintwork wears away faster on TPE than on silicone. TPE is a porous material that releases oils, which means paint holds less well on it. On top of that, the regular talc treatment and more frequent washing that TPE needs also gradually lift the top layers. This doesn't take away from the value of the option: even accounting for wear, a doll with ultra-realistic painting looks better throughout her lifespan than one without it.

Rules that will preserve the paintwork

  • Wash the doll gently, without aggressive rubbing. Blot rather than wipe.
  • Don't use alcohol based products or harsh chemicals. Only mild soap and cool water.
  • Apply talc with light patting motions, without rubbing it in.
  • Only dress the doll in non-dyeing clothing. Dye from fabric soaks into TPE more readily than into silicone, and this kind of damage is harder to fix than worn paintwork. Always wash new clothing before its first wear.
  • Areas of constant friction (palms, the intimate area, breasts) fade first. This is a normal process, and its speed depends on the intensity of use and how careful you are.
